Event:

Tonewood Brewery in Barrington New Jersey truly represents the company’s core values: Quality, Community, and Sustainability. The adaptive re-use of this 15,000 sq. ft. 1960’s lumberyard facility has created a state-of-the-art craft beer tasting showroom with two bars, a two-story warehouse, and a multitude of sustainable features.

This tour will be led by the Project Manager / Project Architect from Bohlin Cywinski Jackson who will speak about the structural adversities faced with retrofitting the space, how the project was designed to revitalize the business corridor of this neighborhood, and the design teams experience with code implications of retrofits. From community tables, indoor / outdoor spaces, patios, and observation balcony, this facility invites everyone from the surrounding area to enjoy the space.

The speaker will also cover the different sustainability features, such as solar panels to fully power the facility, and raingardens that capture 80% of stormwater runoff from the roof. One of the Tonewood brew masters will speak about the CO2 recapture system that repurposes CO2 from the brewing process along with their company’s policy of allocating spent grain to local pig framers.
