Description

In this four-hour class, students will use a large print fabric to learn various embroidery stitches that you can use on your applique projects, embroidery projects or other quilting projects.

The stitches will be the most common stitches used to embellish leaves, flowers and other elements to enhance your applique or embroidery projects. You will also learn a few complicated looking but easy to master stitches.

The second part of the class will be beading and how to attach and secure beads and how to decide where to place your beads for the best visual impact.

You will have a beautifully embellished block to frame or use on another project.

About Cheryl:

Cheryl started quilting in 1998 when she wandered into the Quilting Bee to buy fabric to make kitchen café curtains and saw a fusible applique block of the month being taught by Manda Benton. She had never made a quilt block and never appliqued but her love of applique was firmly cemented after that class.

She has been a member of Washington State Quilters since approximately 1999. Her passion is needle turn applique, wool applique and art quilts.

As a teenager, Cheryl would embroider her shirts and other items (it was the 70’s after all), and this love of adding embellishments and embroidery to her quilts was an easy next step to adding texture and interest to her applique quilts.

Cheryl also loves wool applique and even adds embellishments to primitive wool applique to add texture to her wool applique projects.

After paying to have her first quilts quilted, she took a few classes on machine quilting on a domestic machine and now machine quilts all her projects so she can create detailed and intricate quilting designs with thread. She currently quilts on a Bernina Q20 which is non-moveable (she moves the quilt not the machine).
