Discover the joy of fabric collage using Laura Heine’s signature techniques! In this class, I will guide you step by step as you create your project, choosing either the Dress Form or Pin Cushion pattern and kit. You’ll learn how to layer fabric scraps in a variety of shapes and sizes, using Steam-A-Seam 2 to fuse the pieces together and adhere them to a foundation fabric. No sewing machine is required, making this a relaxed and accessible creative experience for all skill levels. Come ready to unwind and enjoy the process as you design a truly one-of-a-kind piece. By the end of class, you’ll have a solid foundation in Laura Heine’s collage method, giving you the confidence to explore her wider collection of patterns and begin creating your own designs using your personal fabric stash.
Required Kit: $63 kit fee includes the pattern, fabric, Steam A Seam 2, and Pattern Ease
Darlene has dabbled in a wide variety of quilting styles over the past 20 years and loves to explore all facets of the quilting process. While serving as the 1st VP of Speakers and Workshops at Washington State Quilters, she invited Laura Heine to provide a lecture and workshop for the guild on the collage technique. Darlene was so taken with this new (to her) fiber art form that she signed up to attend a workshop at Laura’s shop, Fiberworks, in Billings, MT, to become a certified instructor. She has been teaching a monthly collage class at Cuppa Tea Quilting in Priest River for the past couple of years and loves to see her students unlock their own creativity. Darlene is excited to be signed up to take an advanced workshop at Fiberworks in April 2026, to learn new techniques that she may then teach to others. She is looking forward to sharing her love of collage with your group.
