The 10th Annual Saengerbund Awards, a premier event celebrating the rising stars of the classical and vocal music world, is set to take center stage at 4p on Saturday, February 8th. This thrilling competition will showcase five outstanding singers who are o the brink of a career breakthrough, all vying for the coveted $5,000 top prize.
After a rigorous and competitive preliminary round that saw over 120 talented singers from around the world enter the fray, only a select few have earned the chance to compete I the Final. These finalists – chosen from an impressive pool – will each present three vocal selections: two in German, drawn from the rich tradition of opera, German folk songs, and German Lieder, and a third piece in their native language and whatever style they choose, offering them the opportunity to showcase their versatility across a variety of genres.
The stakes are high, with the Finals professionally judged by some of the most respected names in the music world: Darrell Babidge, Head of Voice Faculty at the Juilliard School; Nils Niebert from Hamburg Opera and the German Coach at Metropolitan Opera; and Colin Brush, Director of Butler Opera Studio at Houston Grand Opera. These esteemed judges bring their wealth of knowledge, experience, and passion for music to this highly anticipated event, promising an evening filled with expert insight and unforgettable performances.

Past finalists have included notable talents such as Duke Kim, Tenor (Metropolitan Opera, Los Angeles Opera, and Chicago Opera), Angel Vargas, Tenor (The Caribbean Tenors and Santa Fe Opera), Isabel Signoret, Mezzo Soprano (Vienna State Opera), Felicity Tompkins, Soprano (Sydney Opera), and Elena Villalon, Soprano (Frankfurt Opera and Metropolitan Opera). These names have become synonymous with excellence and passion in the music community.
