What is the Cake Bake and what are the rules for the contest?
In this great tradition, scouts will bake a cake with dad, grandpa, or another adult. In the spirit of scouting, the scout is asked to do the majority of the baking and decorating with supervision. It's a fun project and will serve as the dessert for the event. Cakes will be judged on appearance in the following categories:
- Most Scout Like
- Funny
- 80's themed
Cake Info and Instructions:
- Cakes can be no larger than 9”x13” rectangle or 9” round to accommodate for all entries
- Cakes can be made at home or from a store, but must be decorated by the scout and an adult partner
- Cakes must be completely edible to be entered into the contest per BSA guidelines
- Cakes are to be delivered to FUMC Gym between 4:25 - 4:30 PM on the day of the event
- Make sure to sign in (at event) to get credit for the cake baking and place your cake on the correct table based on your category
What do we need to do to decorate the den's table?
Talk with your Den Leader for more details. Your den’s table will have a centerpiece with the Den # on it. Please arrive between 4:10-4:15 PM. Please have your den make the table decorations according to one of the following categories:
- 80's theme
- Scouting
*** You’ll need a tablecloth (or two if you have a big den). Plastic is fine (we are using long rectangular cafeteria tables)
Ideas: Placemats, and/or activities to keep the boys busy while the meeting is going on. There are tons ideas on pinterest and online! Announce this in your next den meeting and ask for volunteers to coordinate decorations.
How can I help with planning?
So kind of you to ask! Each den needs a parent volunteer to coordinate table decorations and one to help at one of the activity stations assigned to your den. Ask your den leader for more info. Or, contact J'Anne Leopolos, the organizer, to see how you can help with other details.
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
If you have any questions, email the organizer, J'Anne Leopolos via email at jleopolos@gmail.com or phone at 832-754-0289.
