1. All rules are subject to change at the discretion of the Piping and Drumming Committee Lead and Chief Stewart so long as it meets with fair play and does not give any one person or band an advantage to said rule change. Pipe Majors will be informed of the rule change in accordance with Section 2.11, Modification of Rules, of "The Alaska Scottish Highland Games BCPA Rules for Pipe Band Competition."

2. Pipers, drummers and pipe band members must be attired in recognized Highland dress. Dress for bands must be of conforming nature, plaids do not have to match, so long as they are recognized in Highland wear.

3. Competitors in individual piping and drumming events play in reverse order of entry (last to enter, first to play). The Chief Steward reserves the right to adjust the order of play due to dropouts. The order of play will be posted outside the Chief Steward Official table.

4. Piobaireachd: Competitors in all grades must submit their chosen requisite list of tunes. A list of tunes must be emailed to the Piping and Drumming Committee (ashgpipinganddrumming@gmail.com) by June 12th, 2020. Competitors will be notified of the judge’s choice at the start of the Grade 4 competition. Competitors will play in reverse order of entry (last to enter, first to play). Each competitor will be expected to immediately follow the preceding player or be disqualified. Competitors may exchange positions with other competitors only with the permission of the Chief Steward.

5. Trio: A trio shall consist of three pipers. No piper may compete in more than a single trio event. Trios will play in reverse order of entry (Last to enter, first to play). Each trio will be expected to immediately be prepared to follow the preceding trio or be disqualified. The Trios are not required to be affiliated with the same band.

6. Drum Salute: Only one group of specified drummers may enter from any one band. There is no limit to number drummers, but a minimum, each must contain 1 bass, 2 snares and 1 tenor drum. Order of play will mirror the draw for band competition.

7. Pipe bands will consist of a minimum number of competitors: Grades 3 &4 shall have a minimum of 10 players; 6 pipers, 2 sides, 1 bass and 1 tenor. Grade 5 shall have a minimum of 9 players; 5 pipers, 2 sides, 1 tenor and 1 bass drummer.

8. No piper or drummer shall be allowed to compete in more than one band, except instructors and players playing dual instruments see games rules Parts 2.5. Every member of a competing band must be listed on the entry form band roster and submitted at the deadline date indicated. No roster = no play, no exceptions.

9. Pipers and drummers are to tune and warm up in designated areas only. Failure to warm up in the designated area may lead to disqualification.

10. All competing bands and/or bands receiving travel or performance funds will be required to play in both the Opening and Closing Massed Bands. The Alaskan Scottish Club attaches great importance to these events as an obligation to generate public support for the Club. Bands failing to participate and maintain the standards set forth in the Games rules, face forfeiture of prize money and travel funds.

11. No outside piping or drumming during the Opening or Closing ceremony program is allowed.

12. The pipe band order of play will be drawn at 10:00AM at the Chief Steward table/tent. Approximate start times will be posted at least two hours prior to the start of the band competition. Bands will be informed of any changes in the event a band scratches.
