Hands Up!
This year's Hand's Up Project will continue our effort to reinstall spaces the way the Hart-Cluett House was used when it was a private home for both the Hart and Cluett families. Based on research and using photographic and documentary evidence, reproduction wall-to-wall carpet in patterns appropriate to the mid-1850s will be placed on the Front and Back Parlor floors.
This change from more modern area rugs has been in the works for many years but now is the time to move forward. In addition to providing a more accurate visual that will help immerse visitors into the history of the space, the reproduction materials will wear better, be easier to clean and maintain and be safer for visitors and the building.
Please don't sweep this under the carpet ~ Put your Hands Up!
