Description

Summertime is a vital aspect of cross-country. This is the time when runners develop the foundation that their competitive season is built upon. Starting early, with slow and consistent progression in volume, will help ensure that your son or daughter stays healthy and gets fit for the fall season. While it is true, our competitive season is in the fall, the cross-country season in many ways really starts in June.

This is also the best time for new runners and new students to get to know some of their teammates and classmates going into their first year at SMCHS.

Want to get in shape but not sure about cross-country? The summer camp is also a great way for multi-sport athletes looking to develop their anaerobic strength and endurance. Whether you’re a soccer player, wrestler, swimmer, basketball player, etc., or just looking to get in better shape, our summer program is a sure-fire way of helping your son or daughter get to that next level in his or her sport.

During out Summer Camp we will focus on

  • Running Mechanics
  • Core Strength
  • Recover: Rope stretching/foam rolling/nutrition
  • Training: Recovery, vs hard days, anaerobic vs aerobic, the value of the long run, etc.
