Lowe Family Farmstead

Lowe Family Farmstead is Idaho’s destination for fall farming fun. Founded in 1997 as Idaho’s first full-fledged corn maze, the operation has now grown to a fall attraction that regularly draws local and national attention. In 2022, Lowe Family Farmstead began inviting guests out to enjoy Spring on the Farm.

Lowe Family Farmstead is part of Jim and Hillary Lowe’s farming operation, which includes land in Meridian and Kuna producing feed corn, wheat, and pumpkins. To understand the origins of Lowe Family Farmstead, one must first recognize that “you can take the boy out of the farm, but you can’t take the farm out of the boy.” This truism served as a blessing and a curse for Jim, who grew up farming and ranching but without a family farm to go back to. The conventional wisdom is that, without an inheritance, it is impossible to become a farmer. With farming in his blood and armed with a degree in Ag Business, the idea of agritourism appealed as a niche market that could overcome the obstacles of traditional agriculture. By farming leased ground and operating on a shoestring, the Lowe Family has grown a small but respectable farm that includes both production crops and agritourism.

What emerged as the experience at Lowe Family Farmstead is a creative twist on agriculture that taps into the heart of Idaho. Most Idahoans are only one or two generations removed from the farm and have strong emotional connections with agriculture. At the same time, a growing number of transplants are seeking an authentic Idaho experience. Lowe Family Farmstead's grassroots brand of “Farming Fun and Harvesting Memories” strikes a chord with Idaho natives and newbies alike.

Each season is the culmination of a year-long effort that fully involves the whole Lowe Family. Hillary directs the public operations and Jim handles the farming. They enjoy planning and dreaming up new ideas together. Their three children (Brooklyn, Max, and Blake) each contribute significantly to around their school schedules. In addition to family members, Lowe Family Farmstead requires cooperation of a small team of loyal managers and roughly 200 seasonal Farm Crew members for the ideas to become reality each year.

Lowe Family Farmstead, in 2019, moved to a part of the family's home farm, at 2500 South Eagle Road in Kuna, Idaho. Visitors are encouraged to sign up for email updates in order to stay up-to-date on current and future plans.
