Join us for an intimate afternoon filled with chamber orchestra hallmarks such as Mozart's vibrant Overture to the Marriage of Figaro, Schubert's playful Third Symphony, and Elgar's reminiscent Serenade for Strings. Alongside the leadership of conductor Taka Matsunaga, the MPO will share the stage with Yuri Uomizu (guest concertmaster), Eun Kim (guest principal cello), and Kumiko Nowlan (guest principal clarinet). Our students will collaborate with these seasoned professionals in creating beautiful music! Learn more about the MPO’s musical impact at www.midphil.org.

Midwest Philharmonic Orchestra

Presented by the Midwest Fine Arts Society, the Midwest Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) is a youth-amateur community orchestra based in Schaumburg, Illinois. Founded in 2007 as the Midwest Chamber Strings, the orchestra has grown from a small chamber orchestra in the suburbs to one of Chicagoland's premiere youth community orchestras. The MPO now hosts up to four concerts per season and has two other affiliated ensembles including the Midwest String Orchestra (MSO), a preparatory string ensemble for students that are just beginning their journey in orchestral performance and the Midwest Chamber Orchestra (MCO), an advanced chamber orchestra consisting of top players in the MPO. In 2019, the orchestra was selected as a winner of the American Prize in Orchestral Performance, naming it a top community orchestra in the nation.

The MPO's mission is to offer high-quality music education in the most unique way by providing one of Chicagoland's lowest tuitions and being open to all students, regardless of age, ensuring that every person dreaming of being in an orchestra can be part of our life-changing experience.
