Join Herbalists Jackie Foley & Lisa Benner from Elder Sisters Apothecary to explore the vibrancy of healing herbal vinegars.

In this hands-on workshop, you will learn the simple steps to fermenting your own apple cider vinegar and the vast health benefits of this well known fermented food. We’ll then journey through the healing and nutritional potency of boosting your acv with medicinal herbs commonly found in your kitchen cabinets, easily accessible in your local grocery, or growing wild in your own backyard. From easy one plant vinegar infusions that are a feast for your taste buds —  like basil, bay, or garlic mustard — to traditional folk medicine infusions like Fire Cider or Thieves Vinegar, we’ll explore the vast possibilities of creating infusions that tend digestive issues, ease inflammation, boost your immune system, offer mineral supplementation, detoxify, and more. You will have the opportunity to craft your own herbal vinegar infusion to take home and enjoy in your cooking, use as wellness support, or even as a non-toxic cleaning solution.

At Twin Star Orchards, we use one simple ingredient to make our Brooklyn Cider House ciders – apples. So the structure, aromas, mouth feel, and any residual sugar are definitively tied to the quality of our apples. This is why our work begins on our farm. All of our ciders are made from freshly harvested apples, fermented in stainless steel tanks, and aged between two to eighteen months. We encourage wild yeast and microbes to leave their regional mark on all but one of our ciders, often with a boost from white wine yeast. We make our ciders with minimal intervention and strive for balance, depth of structure, and a lively acidity that begs to be paired with food.
