Description

Mushrooming can be a fun and safe hobby if you know the guidelines. Rachel will get you started on your mushrooming journey with an interactive visual presentation, followed by a walk on the Museum trail to find some beginner and novice-level mushrooms! Her talk takes us through mushrooming safety, beginner-friendly identification techniques and tips, and strategies for collecting and preparing mushrooms. Rachel will also cover foraging ethics, and what species to avoid. Wild mushroom specimens will be available for hands-on identification experience, and Rachel will provide a list of mushrooming resources to access as you continue to practice your mushrooming skills. Wear good walking footwear and insect repellant and bring a cloth or paper bag or basket for collection, along with a pocketknife or shears.
