Join us for a day dedicated to honoring the heroes of the past and exploring the skills, stories, and traditions that helped shape life on the American prairie. Our 2026 History Celebration brings history to life through hands-on experiences that invite visitors to learn, create, and connect with the spirit of earlier generations.
Visitors will enjoy engaging activities and demonstrations throughout the farm, including:
• Learning Morse code and discovering the story of the 1880s train that once traversed our property
• Churning butter and making hand-dipped beeswax candles
• Exploring how pioneers and Native Americans made soap using natural ingredients
• Creating mud adobe bricks, the way some of the first prairie homes were built
• Showing your 1776 American pride by making your own Liberty Ribbon
• Writing a message of freedom on our Freedom Board
• Learning how to discover and research your own family heritage
• Leaving a message for the future in our community Time Capsule, which will be hidden in the historic 1884 homestead
• Enjoying traditional square dancing, with visitors invited to join in and learn the steps
With so many activities to explore, this special day celebrates our shared heritage while creating meaningful memories for visitors of all ages. Registration is free but limited to 500 visitors.
