The Jazz Academy of Music Inc, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, established in 2002, is a manifestation of a longtime dream of Paul Carr, its Music Director, to extend the music education opportunities afforded him, as an inner city youth, to others. The Jazz Academy produces the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival which is an annual "Real Jazz" music program with activities under one roof ... A CRUISE ON LAND!

Having worked directly with jazz innovators including Miles Davis and Art Blakey, Bartz brings deep authenticity to this tribute honoring John Coltrane’s enduring influence as a saxophonist, composer, and visionary whose music reshaped jazz forever.
