Description

Join us for the 25th Anniversary Women Composers Festival of Hartford on Friday, March 27 and Saturday,  March 28 at Founders Hall, located in Davidson Hall, at Central Connecticut State University. We warmly invite and welcome all attendees to join us in celebrating the music of living and historical women composers. 

 

Ticket prices include access to all Festival events.

Friday, March 27, 2026:
12:30-2:15PM Virtual Music Marathon and Scholarly Symposium
2:30-5:30PM Scholarly Symposium
6:30-8:30PM Composition Workshop

Saturday, March 28, 2026:
10:00AM-12:00PM Music Marathon Part I
2:00PM-4:00PM Music Marathon Part II
5:30-6:45PM Reception
7:00PM Feature Concert

Festival events include a Virtual Music Marathon and Scholarly SymposiumIn-Person Scholarly SymposiumIn-Person Music Marathon, Composition Workshop, and the culminating Feature Concert featuring a world premiere from 2026 Composer-in-Residence Kari Cruver Medina performed by 2026 Ensemble-in-Residence Whistling Hens, and the winners of our international Call for Scores.

 

The annual Festival is accessible for all those with mobility, visual, and/or hearing impairments. In case of an emergency, people with mobility devices will be escorted from the premises ahead of the general public.  Emergency signs and instructions will be utilized, along with audio announcements, to be certain that the message reaches all those with vision or hearing impairments. The mission of the Women Composers Festival of Hartford is to promote the music of contemporary and historical women composers through the lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion. WCFH empowers all women and gender-expansive artists from underrepresented groups, including LGBTQ+ individuals, people of color, Indigenous peoples, and people with different abilities.
