Description

“When a man makes his living throwing a baseball, he has to be the best. When that man is an African-American from the South living in the early 20th century, he has to be better than the best, he has to be John Donaldson.”

39 Seconds: The Story of John Donaldson, the Greatest Baseball Player You’ve Never Heard Of, is a feature length documentary/live action film that explores a forgotten piece of American history.

Following the film, hear from Phil Dixon, author of numerous books on Black baseball and one of the five founders of the Negro League Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Missouri; Frank White, MNHS author of They Played for the Love of the Game, and those involved in the making of the film. Then stay afterwards for a beverage and to mingle and meet our guest speakers, cast and crew members.
