Description

Canadian Wildlife Federation's 7th Annual Rights-of-Way Workshop

Welcome to CWF's annual learning and networking event for professionals in ROW management, including planners, engineers, public works, parks and forestry, conservation, and utility and transportation sectors!

The pre-Workshop restoration tour on September 16th will be at the Wildflower Way, a grassland meadow creation project spanning 11ha under a Hydro One transmission line within the Hilton Falls Conservation Area. The grassland meadow is part of the Halton Regional Forest Complex and supports linkages between sensitive natural features, including the Greenbelt, Niagara Escarpment and a municipal Wellhead Protection Area. Wildflower Way was established to create a biodiverse ecosystem compatible with the long-term maintenance obligations of the hydro corridor. This project demonstrates a viable solution to increasing ecosystem resilience and biodiversity with needed public infrastructure.

Join us in-person on Wednesday, September 17 at the Country Heritage Park in Milton, Ontario, for an immersive day focused on integrating restoration planning into land management.

This FREE interactive workshop will feature lightning talks from your peers, a poster session, and live demonstrations of restoration techniques, along with plenty of opportunities for networking and discussions. Learn about the successes and challenges of other working in the field, and gain practical strategies, tools, and connections to transform your approach to ROW stewardship.

Lunch, snacks, and refreshments will be provided during the workshop.

Please email ROWnetwork@cwf-fcf.org if you have any questions about the Wildflower Way tour or the Workshop.

Hotel block pricing is available until August 27th at the Best Western Milton (161 Chisholm Dr, Milton, ON. L9T 4A6), approximately 10 minutes drive from the Workshop venue. Accommodations can still be booked but they will not include the block pricing discount.
