Since its founding in 1883, The Houston Saengerbund has celebrated the contributions of German culture to the American experience by providing opportunities to perform and hear German music, promoting the use of the German language, and engaging in community outreach. The Saengerbund Awards is a continuation of the long tradition by bringing together some of the best voices in the world to perform German musical works before a live audience, as they each vie for the top prize of $5,000.
