In almost every post-apocalyptic dystopia, there is a former accountant or piano teacher with unresolved validation issues who rises from the ashes to rule with an iron fist. And they all come with a special brand of elaborate rule systems, methods of torture, and ornate uniforms. They order raids on rival clans, hoard resources, press-gang captives into their armies, and when all else fails, they tend to kill a lot of people.
But, running an organization of that scale that takes work. It takes people. It takes... middle managers.
Who oversees and manages Immortan Joe’s Blood Bag room? Who comes up with the branding and color scheme for Deacon’s Smokers’ outfits? And who led the team to plant the explosives in Gotham General Hospital? Whoever it was certainly got an earful from the Joker when the detonator didn’t work straight away.
Apocalypse, Inc. is a twist on the “office comedy” that follows Logan and Fiona, two corporate middle managers, and their co-workers as they struggle to survive as employees of Global Domination Worldwide, Inc which is run by a megalomaniacal warlord who kills for sport. To be fair, he only kills for sport because it tested well in focus groups, but that’s another matter.
P.S. There’s an occasional zombie.
