My WORSHIP

A virtual interactive workshop created for attendees to connect with spirit filled worship leaders, song writers and gospel recording artists. The My WORSHIP master class will change your life completely. This course is for anyone who has the desire to grow musically or anyone who wants to learn how to effectively operate on their praise team.

ALL ATTENDEES SHOULD LEAVE THE MASTER CLASS WITH KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO:

• Know the difference between praise and worship and learn how to effectively do both.
• Design effective praise and worship sets and place songs where best suited in their service.
• Arrange parts for praise teams based on the different texture of voices.
• Motivate and encourage other members of the music team to strive for excellence at all times.
• Customize music to fit the culture of the church and enhance the worship service.

This master class was created to provide tangible and practical teachings on becoming a better praise and worship leader, choir director, singer and/or musician. We will discuss all the areas involved in being an effective music and arts worship leader (praise and worship leader) and also assisting attendees in learning how to write and create their own music.  This master class will be 4 weeks with sessions twice a week, Sunday and Thursday evenings from 7:15pm to 9:00pm. With each session being approximately $11 per session (each session is 1hr 45 mins), this package is unbeatable.  All of our instructors are experienced music ministers who have been masters in their craft for over 15+ years. Sefton Dale Brown, Originally from Kingston, Jamaica, was born and raised in a musical family. His parents are Sefton Brown Snr and Claudette Brown, gospel music legends from the ministry "New Creation Heritage". Sefton jnr (known to most as Dale, has been singing for over 35yrs. He has ministered all over the Caribbean serving as the choir director, praise team coordinator, music director, worship and arts director for many ministries all across North America and the caribbean. He formed a ministry called Dale Brown and Truth also known as DB&T which started in August 2009 and is currently comprised of 18 active members from across the United states and Canada. The group blends traditional and contemporary gospel music with their own musical style. They have ministered across the United States, the Caribbean and now Canada. The ministry released their first album "Tru Celebration" in December of 2013; their second album "Under Construction" in September of 2015 and in January of  2018 they released a gospel reggae fusion project. They were also nominated in 2018 for the "best contemporary gospel group award" at the Eddy awards, held in Jacksonville, Florida. In addition to their  albums, the ministry has a clothing line which includes: tshirts, dresses and sweaters.

Dale has currently relocated to Toronto  Canada where he is very active in the gospel music industry. He is currently the music teacher at Crawford adventist academy, the praise and worship director for the Apple Creek church, The music consultant for the Meadowvale Church and the director of the promotion company Muzikizlife. Dale Brown and Truth has expanded their ministry to now having a chapter in Toronto called "Dale Brown and One Voice".
God has been really good to this ministry and for that they are grateful. It is their desire to take God with them wherever they go, spreading His love to those who may or may not know how miraculous He is. Their charge to you today is to “Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass” - Psalm 37:5
 

PRESENTERS:

Dr. WAYNE BUCKNOR – Professor of Piano     

Wayne Bucknor was born in Queens, New York, and grew up in Orlando, Florida. He graduated from Oakwood College in 1994 with a BA in Music and a BS in Computer Science. Bucknor completed a Master of Music Ed. at Alabama A & M University in 1998 and a Doctorate in Musical Arts in piano performance and pedagogy at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 2008.  He is a songwriter, producer, and arranger for soloists and groups, including Virtue (I Must Tell Jesus, Angels Watching Over Me, Till You Believe (piano), the Madison Mission Mass Choir (Great and Marvelous, Open Praise, Lord We Have Come, etc.), Ann McCrary, Duawne Starling, Darwin Hobbs(God Restores), True Identity(Gave Me One More Day) and others who have included his work for them on their recordings.

Bucknor completed a CD album entitled 40 Years: God Is Good. The songs were all written, arranged, and produced by Bucknor and includes a couple of piano solos, and original gospel songs featuring Duawne Starling, Tamara Bodie, Committed, Sherice Tomlin, Carmen Hope Thomas, Milton Doggette, Jamel Strong, Robbie Pressley, Theron Thomas, Bryan Cordell, Kevin&Shavonne Sampson, and the Bucknor Kids. He is a published writer through GIA publications and self-publishes through his company, Bucknor Publishing.

Wayne Bucknor is Professor of Piano at Oakwood University where he teaches piano, directs the Jazz Ensemble, and accompanies the Aeolians.  He is an international concert pianist, songwriter, producer, and arranger. In 2016, he accomplished a feat of writing on average a song per day to the glory of God. He is married to the former Carmen Byars and has three wonderful children, Nina, BJ, and Cameryn. 

LAMAR CAMPBELL – Gospel Recording Artist

Lamar Campbell & Spirit of Praise, founded in 1995, has recorded six Stellar nominated CDs and has seen their name value rise via collaborations with CeCe Winans, soul music icon Aaron Neville and even southern gospel legend Bill Gaither.

Born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, Lamar was active in the church and musically gifted from an early age.  At age eight, he began playing the piano in his home church.  By age fifteen, he accepted his first position as musical director for another church. After graduating high school, he felt a call to music ministry and studied music at the Jordan Music College at Butler University in Indianapolis.  Lamar founded his first group simply known as Lamar Campbell & Praise. That ensemble released a major-label album.   It performed moderately well, nationally, yielding a major hit titled, “This Debt of Love I Owe,” and made the act a significant name in Indianapolis and the surrounding areas.  He was later led to form Lamar Campbell & Spirit of Praise and became the first artist signed to EMI Gospel (now known as Motown Gospel), where they released  the following CD’s titled, Lamar Campbell & Spirit of Praise, I Need Your Spirit, When I Think About You, Confessions of a Worshipper, The Praise Collection,  From the Heart, New Song, New sound – Live.  

Lamar is committed to delivering music that helps put people in relationship with Jesus Christ. During the coronavirus pandemic and time of protest for police violence LC&SOP felt a strong urge to remind people through song that our God is greater than any circumstances we can face. Their latest single, HE’S MORE THAN THAT is assured to put things in perspective and get your Holy Ghost bounce going at the same time. HE’S MORE THAN THAT is the lead track on the NEW Lamar Campbell and SPIRIT OF PRAISE project set to release late summer 2020.

SHARON RILEY - Gospel Recording Artist/Vocal instructor

Now in her 25th year, Sharon Riley has established itself as Canada’s premier gospel group. Her name speaks  volumes  about  a journey which has  been  characterized  by struggle, longevity, and untold blessings-the stuff of unshakable faith. After a life changing incident in her life she has continued to stay strong. The milestone of being Canada’s first gospel group to sign an international recording contract is amplified by the long list of awards and achievements the choir has amassed in over a decade of groundbreaking work. It has graced both the big screen and small screen, appearing in the blockbuster film The Blues Brothers 2000 and HBO’s Light to the Power of Two. Working alongside Paul Shaffer, Sharon co- arranged the soundtrack “John The Revelator” for The Blues Brothers 2000, and she along with the choir appeared on the Grammy Award-nominated soundtrack alongside the likes of Aretha Franklin, Erykah Badu, James Brown and Eric Clapton. Most recently the group was featured in the blockbuster film xXx: The Return of Xander Cage starring Vin Diesel. She has also performed in and episode of Saving Hope, Junos Awards in 2013, went on tour with Johnny Reid, performed backup for New Kids on the Block, opening of the ROM with Debra Cox, and David Foster, many shows at Fallsview in Niagara Falls, and at the Bad Boy concert in Toronto.

On September 30, 2006 Sharon received the “COURAGE” Award from the Canada’s acclaimed MAJA Awards for her courage in continuing on even the face of a life changing accident. Sharon Riley is more than a gospel singer, she also gives back to her community and the community at large, she has be a part of “Blues In the Schools” for 15 years, which is a program that goes around to schools interacting with students about music.
