    5261 Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia, PA

Description

The Pop-Up Experience is hosted by The Black Food & Dessert Expo in celebration of Philly Black Restaurant Week. It is basically a POWER HOUR of tasting and shopping with some of our local Chefs & Bakers. Come, taste and have an amazing time in unity, safely together!

Safety is our #1 concern: This is a MASK REQUIRED event except when you are tasting food of course. We have built in one hour to properly clean and sanitize the venue in between Shop Blocks. All Guests will have their temperature taken before entry and be provided with sanitizer, hand wipes and a mask.

Our guests may purchase tickets to shop in available SHOP BLOCKS.  During your SHOP BLOCK you are welcome to sample, taste and purchase from our Featured Chefs & Bakers.

Your admission ticket will include: 1-hour admission Shop Block, a shopping bag, a non-alcoholic drink ticket and 1 sample from each vendor.

Add on Black Spirits Tasting – Taste samples of both local and out of state black owned liquor and wine.

Add on Adult Beverage Ticket – Get a curated Signature Drink from our featured bartender.

Things to know for an enjoyable experience:

  • There is a capacity per Shop Block so every person MUST have a ticket, yes even children.
  • You must arrive during your hour and we must clear the venue at the end of your hour.
  • If you miss your hour, you can try to order ToGo for curbside pickup but there are no guarantees, no exceptions.
  • Come ready to shop, bring cash for faster transactions.

We are a dedicated team of entrepreneurs who want to specifically support, empower and uplift black and brown entrepreneurs that have a food business, talent or product idea. We host the Expo exclusively to exhibit and showcase those black owned businesses that do not have a brick and mortar location or food truck. Additionally we facilitate a series of classes that help entrepreneurs grow their food business both locally and virtually.

Statistics continuously show that the Black population have tremendous buying power (Nielson estimated $1.7 trillion in 2017) yet very little money is spent with other Black business owners. Also non-blacks have a perception that our products may be low quality or less valuable. Let’s strengthen our communities’ by enriching these businesses and building a network.

Join us at one our Expos as we pour into our own communities and showcase the amazing culinary talents of local black entrepreneurs. Our Expo will be your chance to sample, purchase and support black owned businesses. Find your next caterer, private chef or business partner.
