Description
POST OFFICE
Written by Rabindranath Tagore
Directed by Hafiz Karmali
The story of a young boy, Amal, who is confined to his home by an illness. With the world at his doorstep, Amal is happy in the fertile land of his imagination, and is willing when the time comes, to journey from this world to the next. On the evening before Paris fell to the Nazis, the French translation by Andre Gide was read over the radio.

THE DANGER OF TOBACCO
By Anton Chekov, performed by Siddharth Rathi (August 4 and 5 only)
MICHE KOLAHOL/TAGORE PLAYS MASHUP (August 7 only)
An ensemble production presented by Epic Actors’ Workshop and directed by Golam Sarwar Harun
Religious bigotry, superstitious beliefs, and the debris of social governance slowly accumulate into a heap. The heap transforms into a concrete wall and divides us. It imprisons us in different cages. When expression becomes forbidden, creation becomes stagnant. Our imprisoned states have rendered us creation-less, instead, we only keep accumulating lifeless, material possessions. We don’t accept this infertility. We don’t accept this divisiveness. We don’t accept the bindings of this cage. We have selected some of Tagore’s plays as our arsenal to break free from this imprisoned state.
