About Le Cours de Danse (Ballet in French)

LCD is a children’s ballet program started by Julia Battist in 2015. Our mission is to bring French-infused ballet classes and mentorship to a growing community of children and their families in DC.  Since 2018, we have partnered with the Dance Institute of Washington.

Our classes provide ages 3 to 14 with a foundation in classical dance. Most students train at a recreational level once a week, while those seeking higher levels commit to two to three classes per week. Students learn a classical dance curriculum based on the French method. Our partnership with DIW offers young dancers the opportunity to enter DIW’s pre-professional school. Many families attending the program are originally from different parts of the world (Europe, South America, and Southeast Asia). Some students are francophone, but this is not required.
