Description
On June 5, 2022, a family barbecue on Saginaw's East Side turned deadly after 3 people were brutally murdered. Laura Buendia, Mariano Escareño, and Rafael J. "Rafa" Campos lost their lives that fateful evening. Laura was 6 months pregnant at the time of the shooting with her first baby. She later succumbed to her injuries, but doctors were able to save her daughter, Rosie. Months later only one arrest was made when evidence pointed to their cousin who also had a violent criminal past.
The tragedy made national news and further showed a dark reality of gun violence in the United States. This film follows the family as they struggle with their grief, a justice system that seems slow to respond, and the challenges of Rosie as she grows up without a mother.
All proceeds from this film release are going towards setting up a college fund for Rosie and potential future medical expenses.
