Workshop Description
This workshop will explore a way of understanding the lives of marginalized people. Social devaluation is presented as a crucial problem that can lead to many negative life experiences for devalued people. Participants will learn about the impact of such experiences and some ways to address social devaluation, namely assisting marginalized people to gain socially valued roles.
The concepts introduced in this workshop are part of Social Role Valorization (SRV), developed by Dr. Wolf Wolfensberger, a prominent thinker and leader in human services. This short training can be thought of as a preliminary introduction to SRV theory.
Who Should Attend?
The workshop is directed at anyone who is interested in bringing about change in the lives of devalued people, including families, human service workers and managers, service users, students, advocates, board members, and others.
Format
This workshop is delivered via lecture, questions, and discussion. Come prepared to think about the devalued people you know, their life experiences,
and the social roles they fill in life. The workshop material is presented sequentially and therefore, full attendance is required.

Cost of tuition is $200
