Description
Concert and presentation of Yucatec Mayan rapper ADN Maya, one of the leaders of Maya-language rap in Mexico.
Armed with his rhymes and positive attitude, ADN Maya is a rapper who writes, composes, and sings songs only in the Mayan language. He has released six albums, the first in 2009. A pioneer in this genre, he uses his music to promote and celebrate the culture of the indigenous peoples of the Mexican state of Quintana Roo and the entire Yucatan Peninsula in southeastern Mexico. In 2014 he founded ADN Maya, a production house that works with Mayan musicians and artists to develop their projects and talents. ADN Maya is visiting Portland to teach workshops to the Yucatec Mayan youth residing in the city, and this will be his first performance in PNW.
