AFTER HOURS | Rudy's Bluegrass Revue

 

Join us for our AFTER HOURS Summer Concert Series, happening EVERY 3rd Tuesday of the Summer Months (June - August) from 6 PM - 8 PM (doors open at 5:30 PM) at the historic Smith-McDowell House, home to the Asheville Museum of History (AMoH).

 

Each concert will showcase the talents of local artists who reflect traditional and contemporary folk, bluegrass, and Appalachian mountain music. For our August 18th AFTER HOURS concert, we are delighted to have Rudy's Bluegrass Revue

 

Performances will take place on the front porch of Smith-McDowell House, allowing friends and families to gather and enjoy the music from the front lawn.  

 

Please pre-order a curated picnic from Finch Grocery to enjoy on the lawn—options below. On the night of the show, wine and beer will be available for sale, as will non-alcoholic beverages.   

 

OPTION 1: $75.00

We will be selling alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks during the show, but please feel free to bring your own food and picnic-style dinner. Also, we can only provide a few chairs, so please bring your own lawn chairs and blankets to ensure you have comfortable seating.  

 

In addition to live music, AFTERS HOURS will feature games and activities for the entire family. Included with your ticket cost is admission to the museum. Folks will be able to enjoy the museum as they would during normal operating hours.

 

About Rudy's Bluegrass Revue:

 

Rudy's Bluegrass Revue delivers dynamic Bluegrass, Americana, and roots music with a contemporary flair, steeped in tradition while balancing a cutting-edge sound. 

 

Rudy Cortese is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and entertainer, on the 5-string banjo, mandolin, guitar, and fiddle. Rudy is a multi-award winning banjo player. His music includes original compositions as well as covers in the genres of bluegrass, rhythm & roots, Americana/country, classical, and world music. Rudy approaches his songwriting, vocals and instrumentation with urgency and authenticity. Each performance is unique, fun, and full of surprises. 

 

Elizabeth Kronlage, on harmony vocals, tenor guitar, and cello. Elizabeth and Rudy were the specialty duet vocal champions, at the Wickenburg, AZ Bluegrass Festival in 2019. Elizabeth's harmony and lead vocals give an authentic mountain-bluegrass sound. 

 

Chris Carter holds down the rhythm on upright bass. A Madison County native, he has been in the musical scene his whole life. He is pictured here, outstanding in his field.

Weather Cancellation Policy: This is an outdoor event that may be affected by the weather. The Museum reserves the right to delay, cancel, or reschedule the concert in the event of severe weather deemed unsafe for participants by management. No refunds will be issued for weather-related cancellations, delays, interruptions, or early closures. Paid tickets will be considered charitable contributions to the Museum. If the event is rescheduled, tickets will be honored for the rescheduled date. By booking, guests acknowledge and accept the risk of changing weather conditions. Guests are encouraged to monitor email and social media updates for event status announcements.

 

Pre-ordered picnic baskets will be available for pickup at the Museum on the day of the event and are non-refundable, as they are prepared in advance by the caterer.
