Description

Note: We will be serving tea at the end of the hike and will have some teacups, but if you would like to bring your own that is encouraged!

Join us for a guided nature walk inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku (forest bathing), designed to help us reconnect with nature and restore balance in the aftermath of Hurricane Helen. Our Bear Creek Park has experienced significant damage, with multiple bridges taken down and the trail partially inaccessible. This walk is not only a chance to experience the forest’s resilience but also an opportunity to ground ourselves, reflect on the challenges we’ve faced, and bring gratitude to the healing power of the earth.

Led by our activities staff, we will traverse part of the trail, pausing to observe the changes in our surroundings, offering moments of stillness and reflection along the way. The journey will culminate near a downed bridge, where we will engage in a peaceful, guided meditation accompanied by the soothing sounds of the flute and a singing bowl, offering gentle sound healing to support our mental and emotional recovery.

After the meditation, we will walk back to the start of the trail, where we’ll gather as a community to enjoy herbal tea from Snake Song, fostering further connection and calm in a peaceful setting.
