Description
Neighborhood North facilitates one day of the TrailBlazer afterschool program every Thursday from 3:00-6:00 pm for a cohort of K-5th grade students from the Beaver Falls school district. This is an arts-integrated program that focuses on homework help, social-emotional development, and learning through the arts. Teaching artists are brought in for 3-week blocks to facilitate 1-hour workshops with the students each week in disciplines ranging from poetry and photography to theatre. In partnership with Geneva College, students from their Sociology class receive course credit for volunteering with our program as part of a service-learning opportunity. This affords us the opportunity to provide smaller ratios and more individual attention to students.
