Gabriel Espinosa was born in Merida, Mexico. He has music degrees from Central College (BA in
Music), Berklee College of Music (Arranging) and the University of North Texas (Masters in
Music). He has been teaching at Central College since 1996 and at Grinnell College since 2004.
Espinosa recorded three albums with his Iowa band Ashanti before going solo in 2009.
Since 2009 he has recorded five albums for the New York Record label Zoho Music with
musicians like: Antonio Sanchez, Anat Cohen, Hendrik Meurkens, Misha Tsiganov, Adriano
Santos, Tierney Sutton, Kim Nazarian (from the New York Voices) to name a few.
Gabriel will be releasing his next project during the Spring of 2023 in Iowa and New York.
His special guests on the new album are The New York Voices, Fred Hersch, Misha Tsiaganov,
Mauricio Zottarelli, Anat Cohen and many more.
