Description
We invite the community to join us for Park Day on Saturday, April 25th from 11 AM until 3 PM at the grounds of the historic Smith-McDowell House, home to the Asheville Musuem of History (AMoH)! We will be offering a variety of tasks on the grounds and around the 1840 historic home. Whether you are tidying the garden beds for the spring and summer seasons or dusting away cobwebs, we can use your help!
This April, volunteers at historic sites across the country, including the historic Smith-McDowell House, home to the Asheville Museum of History (AMoH), are teaming up with the American Battlefield Trust for their annual Park Day event. Now in its 30th year, the spring clean-up event has provided an avenue to refresh battlefields, museums and other historic sites in time for tourist season, and this year, America’s Semiquincentennial anniversary.
Park Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2026, in conjunction with Earth Week, National Park Week, National Volunteer Week and the America Gives initiative, amplifying the impact of volunteer efforts from coast to coast. Volunteers will be joined by participants at more than 100 sites across the country, banding together to give back to their communities.
Park Day will begin at 11:00 AM and end at 3 PM. We will offer snacks and water to all volunteers, however, we do also recommend bringing a bagged lunch if you would like something substantial. Each Volunteer to join us will receive two complimentary admission ticket vouchers to visit the museum on any day of normal operations.
Please register for each individual planning to join us, as it helps us to plan the day!
