What’s in a name?

“I think we needed a name for a festival application or something, and we needed it quick so there wasn’t much thought put into it” recalled the singer of naming the Ottawa collective. “I honestly figured it would be an outlet for Chris and I to make a record or two and then we’d be done. I never thought we’d have to be spelling it out for ages”. 17 years, 4 albums, a handful of singles and EP and hundreds of shows later, with a solidified line up of 6, the band is still making music. Known for their lush arrangements, layered harmonies and captivating live shows, Amos the Transparent continues to find themselves explaining that “No, its not Amos and the Transparents, Amos and the Transplants, it’s pronounced Amos(Ai m uh s), not Amos(Ai m oh s), and no, the singers name is not Amos’.

Red Bird is an intimate, 80 capacity music venue with excellent sound and sight lines from every seat.

We are licensed and have a selection of locally crafted beers and ciders plus a small but fine selections of wine and spirits. 

We also carry a selection of non-alcoholic beverages such as locally made sodas and non-alcoholic beers, and a small menu of snack foods such as pressed sandwiches, hot dogs, soft pretzels and pastries.

Unless otherwise noted, all shows are all ages. Everyone must have a ticket, regardless of age. 

Doors open one hour ahead of the performance time. 

Parking is available at the south end of our building and on side streets (please be respectful of parking restrictions).

Regrettably, our space is not accessible. There are six gradual and wide steps to our front door with railings on each side. Once inside, everything is on one floor including an accessible washroom. 

Event end times will vary depending on the artist.
