It is with heavy hearts that we announce today that An Occasion for the Arts 2022 has been cancelled as a result of Hurricane Ian. This includes all AOFTA events from Friday, September 30-Sunday, October 2.

As you all know, Hurricane Ian is approaching the East Coast, and while we don’t know the exact impact it could have on Williamsburg and our surrounding region, we do know that it will impact us in some way. To help ensure the safety of our community, the artists, vendors and all who support AOFTA, the Executive Board of AOFTA decided to cancel the 2022 event.

Thank you all for supporting the arts in our community. We look forward to planning Williamsburg’s premier arts festival in 2023!

An Evening for the Arts is our kickstart fundraising campaign for the AOFTA Artist in Residence Program benefitting the Williamsburg-James County Public Schools. In partnership with the schools we envision placing skilled artists in the schools to enhance the art education for all students. All proceeds from An Evening of the Arts will go toward this program.

An Occasion for the Arts

An Occasion for the Arts was founded in 1969 to provide Williamsburg with an arts extravaganza. Since then it has grown, year by year, to become the area’s premier art and music festival. We are especially proud to draw outstanding artists from around the country and exceptional youth art on the first weekend in October each year. Lively performances are held both days on our two stages, and the popular food court provides a culinary taste of fall.
