Description
Young Astronomers Club: Discovering Our Star, The Sun!
Calling all young space explorers! The Anglesey Astronomical Society invites our younger astronomers to a fun, interactive session dedicated entirely to the brightest object in our sky—our very own star, the Sun.
Through an engaging, youth-friendly talk, we will dive into exactly what the Sun is, how it works, and its incredible purpose within our solar system and the wider Milky Way galaxy.
What We Will Be Doing:
Live Solar Observing: Weather permitting, we will head outside to view the Sun safely using our advanced SeeStar smart telescope. Kids will get to see real-time views of sunspots and solar activity!
Citizen Science & Tracking: We won't just be looking; we will teach the group how to properly record, sketch, and document what they observe, just like real astronomers.
Interactive Space Talk: A fun exploration of how the Sun keeps our solar system together and why life on Earth depends on it.
Important Event Info:
Ages: Perfect for young minds interested in space, science, and telescopes.
Safety First: Observing the Sun requires specialist equipment. Our team will be using dedicated, safe solar filters on our smart tech—never look directly at the Sun with the naked eye or standard binoculars.
Weather Dependability: If the Welsh weather decides not to cooperate for live solar viewing, we have plenty of brilliant indoor activities and interactive telescope demonstrations ready to go!
Supporting the Society: Tickets purchased for guests and visitors go directly toward securing the future of our society and our brand-new observatory project.
Clear skies, and we look forward to inspiring the next generation of Anglesey stargazers!
