Description
Minnesota's school board members, please join us for a special dinner and training session presented by School Boards for Academic Excellence at North Oaks Golf Club.
Intra-district open enrollment (OE) is the practice of allowing families to choose any school within their district, rather than being assigned one based on geography. At its core, OE reflects the free-market: when schools compete for students, they are incentivized to improve. Families gain the power to vote with their feet, and schools that respond to that competition become stronger for it. When done well, OE increases family satisfaction, helps schools better align resources to demand, and signals to your community that the board trusts parents to make good decisions for their kids. This work session will walk board members through the philosophy behind strong OE policy, how to set and communicate capacity fairly, and how to make the opt-in process simple enough that families actually use it. You’ll leave with a practical framework your district can adopt and the confidence to answer tough questions from your community. Join us for this free dinner and training session at the beautiful North Oaks Golf Club!
