Description
We all have favorite Appalachian fiddle tunes, but what we really love is the sound of the music itself: the rhythm, the swing, the drive that make it hypnotic to play and really fun to dance to. In this workshop we'll explore the bowing patterns that make that rhythm happen. In each class, we'll go over the three bowing patterns that are the rhythmic vocabulary of Appalachian fiddle music, then focus on one of those patterns and how it works in the context of a tune. With these bowings, you can learn new tunes faster, inject new life into old tunes, and have even more fun playing by yourself and with others.
