The mission of the El Dorado Western Railway Foundation is to raise and manage funds in support of rail operations in El Dorado County and assist the county carryout the mission of county’s living history rail program. The foundation supports the rail program through the acquisition and custody of rail assets that do not have a historic connection to the county and promotes the preservation of historic county rail assets. The foundation supports the interpretation of county railroad history through the living history rail program. And it encourages volunteerism within the county rail program and recognizes rail volunteers.

Tickets go on sale at 9:30 AM:
$10 for adults & children 9 & up
$3 for children 4 to 8
Free for children 3 & under

Call (530) 663-3581 for questions and to confirm departure times. The telephone is monitored on scheduled train ride days. Please remember that there are a limited number of seats available for each train. So, make your reservation early. A limited of walk-on tickets will be available from the station agent. Riders younger than 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. No animals are allowed on board. The round trip (30 to 40 minutes) takes you east from the depot on the historic Southern Pacific Placerville Branch rail line. The train stops in the vicinity of the No. 1 Tunnel Cut, before returning to the depot.
