Description
Area Meeting, the Arts Collaborative's monthly artist gathering, returns in September for a discussion of the Community Arts Residency.
Last year the SBAC launched an artist-in-residence program, based at the Community Arts Workshop, for art work that builds community, fosters genuine conversation, and grows relationships between disparate people and groups.
Three artists — Tayllor and Ade Oyewole-Davis, and Patrick Melroy — were awarded funds to utilize the tools of their art practice to meet this challenge.
This panel discussion led by Associate Professor of Print and Publication at UCSB, Alex Lucas, will offer the artists and the Executive Director of the Arts Collaborative an opportunity to talk about the origins of the residency program, the resulting projects, how they engaged the community, and what may be next for the residency program.
