Free painting workshop | All skill levels welcome
Discover the colors, stories, and traditions of Hispanic folk art while creating a piece that reflects your own imagination. This free workshop brings art and conversation into the garden, creating a welcoming setting to paint, connect, and draw inspiration from nature.
We’ll start with a brief presentation on traditional folk art and painting techniques from Mexico, Peru, Spain, El Salvador, and beyond. Explore examples, share stories, and sketch a design freehand or with templates on a small canvas or canvas tote bag.
Next, enjoy time in the garden as you paint and consider how nature influences artists across cultures. No previous painting experience is required—bring your curiosity and enthusiasm for creating.
Take your finished canvas or tote bag home at the end of the session, ready to seal or continue painting another day.
Rain plan: The workshop will move to the Turnage Theatre’s backstage area.
