Description
ARTISTS + ACADEMICS is a virtual gathering dedicated to the cultivation and encouragement of creativity in its members.
Sessions are 90m each and take place via Zoom 2-3x per week. Schedules released on a monthly basis.
October Schedule: Wednesdays 11:30-1:00 pm EST
During each session, expect:
- 10 minute arrival window - opportunity for networking, fellowship, or just to finish pouring your coffee!
- 10 minutes for inspiration & intention - host will share the session's theme, including some reference media to jumpstart ideas: there will be an opportunity for each participant to seek out their own inspiration and set an intention or articulate a goal for the time.
- 60 minutes for creating - host will manage a series of timed pseudo-pomodoros (20m of work / 2m of break) and provide suggestions for how to utilize each section: although the use of this time is entirely up to each participant!
- 5 minutes for closure - host will call everyone back for a moment of gratitude and opportunity for idea share before parting ways.
This event is open to Creatives of all kinds and serves as a space for anyone using creative work to deepen their connection or understanding (writers, musicians, visual artists, performers, curators, designers, architects, craftsmen, etc).
We aim to provide space for members to follow wherever their own inspiration and intuition guide them in the development of their work. There will be no mandated 'group project' during the session but instead a series of questions and inspiration sources for each member to consider or disregard as they please.
Participants are encouraged to "choose your own adventure," either diving deep into the themed exploratory for the week or bringing their own project for further development. Zooming in individually or using the opportunity to co-work with friends/colleagues. Similar to a group yoga class: participants can choose to follow the prompts provided, find their own flow, or simply use the time to relax into child’s pose.Also similar to a yoga class, we hope participants will find space for exploration, boundary-pushing, and play.
Each session will stand alone: participants don't need to join prior sessions in order to jump into a future session. Creatives are welcome to join whenever it suits their schedule.
