Description

August: Osage County
Written by Tracy Letts
Directed by Angela Pirrello Howard
Assistant Director: Ella Folkerts

In April 2020 August Osage County was the first of many productions and events cancelled due to COVID-19. Two years later, CEC is elated to bring this production back to the stage.

PERFORMANCE NOTES:
There will be no show Sunday, April 17. We will have a performance Wednesday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m.

The first act is approximately 1.5 hours long. We will have one 15-minute intermission after the first act.

CONTENT WARNING:
Strong language is used throughout the show.

August: Osage County also covers intense subjects such as drug abuse, suicide, addiction and intergenerational trauma.

SYNOPSIS:
A vanished father. A pill-popping mother. Three sisters harboring shady little secrets. When the large Weston family unexpectedly reunites after Dad disappears, their Oklahoman family homestead explodes in a maelstrom of repressed truths and unsettling secrets. Mix in Violet, the drugged-up, scathingly acidic matriarch, and you’ve got a major play that unflinchingly—and uproariously—exposes the dark side of the Midwestern American family.

COVID PRECAUTIONS

  • All audience members are required to wear masks the entire time they are in CEC.
  • Capacity is limited to 75 seats in the house per performance.
  • We will not have food for sale during intermission. We also remind our audiences that bringing in their own food and drink into the theater is not permitted. There will be complimentary water available.
  • We strongly encourage everyone to purchase their tickets to this production in advance. Online ticket sales will end one hour prior to the performance. We will have tickets available at the door, but we prefer not to accept cash payment. We request payment by debit or charge cards if at all possible to maintain COVID precautions.
