Awakening to the Spirit of the Seasons: Autumn 2022 Grief Workshop - Calgary

You will be joining Kimberley, Bonnie and a special guest for a full day and evening immersion into the heart of the season. This will be an exploration of our relationship to the natural world, how do we move through the different aspects of the seasons? What are our unique needs in summer as opposed to winter? What emotions are associated with which season?

We will begin the day with an introduction to ceremony and ritual, followed by a movement-based practice based on the element of the season we are exploring. In the afternoon we will move into exercises to gain a deeper understanding of how we relate to and interact with the seasons and the day will be closed with an evening fire ceremony.

Our first exploration will begin with the season of Autumn, and the emotion of grief. Through the cycle of Autumn we begin to witness the release and letting-go-of in nature as it prepares to enter the stillness and slumber of winter. It is through this phase of release that we allow the divinity of inspiration to flow within and through us, so we can release what no longer serves us, and become open to receiving life in all the ways that are possible.

We will be joined by Julie Chrapavy who will lead us into an intimate practice of witnessing, allowing and honouring grief, and our relationship to it in our daily lives and beyond. This is often an emotion that we can perceive to be challenging and one that is often avoided, however necessary and prevalent it is.

Julie is a Soul Activist who has been called to offer this work to her community. Creating a space of fellowship where we can meet to witness, touch, and acknowledge our grief, sorrow, and wounds. Having previously studied with Francis Weller in the following programs - An Apprenticeship with Sorrow: Community, Ritual, and Sacred Work of Grief and The Alchemy of Initiation: Soul Work and the Art of Ripening Julie continues to participate in deepening her understanding by being actively engaged in the online community, Soulful Life, which provides a platform for exploring the world of Soul & Community.
