Ballroom Time presents a multi-level Ballroom Dance Workshop in the Spanish Ballroom on Saturday afternoon, April 4, 2026 from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm followed by one hour of instructor-assisted practice until 5:30. This multi-level Workshop is designed with beginner to intermediate-level dancers in mind. Beginners will receive separate instruction to cover lead and follow techniques along with basic steps and figures that can be used across multiple dance styles. The first hour will cover mambo, rumba, cha-cha, and bachata basics. The second hour will cover dances that move in a line of dance including waltz, foxtrot, tango, and samba. Figures used in samba line dancing will be taught during the practice session. More experienced dancers are encouraged to join the Workshop to learn intermediate-level figures chosen from the following: Hour 1 - open and closed cross-body lead in rumba and cha-cha; spiral turns; bolero styling; and additional figures for bachata and merengue. Hour 2 - additional figures for waltz and foxtrot including the natural spin turn and waltz figures done out of promenade position: the natural impetus turn, chassé steps, and the reverse weave. We'll practice the Viennese cross used in Viennese waltz. We'll review the open reverse turn and back corté in ballroom tango.
We will be rotating partners, which is always optional for those who dance with a preferred partner.
Following the Workshop, there will be one hour of instructor-assisted practice from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The Workshop is complimentary to our 4-week class series: of Ballroom Dancing for beginner dancers; and Ballroom Dancing for intermediate-level dancers. Additional information may be found in the Park's couse catalog.
The Workshop will be taught by Ballroom Time staff Tom Hall and Min Zhang who have a combined total of over 50 years of ballroom dance experience.
