Description

Bard at the Batture: Ladies' Night

An evening with Shakespeare's women ... wit, longing, and rebellion on the riverfront.

Join Crescent City Stage for our second Bard at the Batture event, a special edition of our riverfront Shakespeare series spotlighting the Bard's most unforgettable women. This curated evening of monologues and scenes draws from across the canon - Beatrice's sharp tongue, Lady Macbeth's ambition, Rosalind's wit, Juliet's longing, all brought to life by six remarkable actresses, just as the sun sets over the Mississippi.

Enjoy a relaxed evening of language, laughter, and a little mischief. Doors open at 5:30pm, grab a drink and food from the onsite Miss Market, then head to The Courtyard to grab your seat.  The performance will begin at 6:30pm and run approximately 60 minutes without intermission.

ABOUT THE BATTURE:

The word Batture is one we borrow from the French, referring to the vast expanses of exposed riverbank sculpted by the ebb and flow of the Mississippi River over thousands of years

Here, in New Orleans, the River is an essential ingredient in our daily lives. Whether it’s the distinctive curve that defines our Crescent City or our hyperlocal way of giving directions, the rhythm of the River flows through every aspect of how we live. Now, The Batture—a space designed by locals for locals—revitalizes a forgotten riverfront, bringing together food, friends, and the warmth of our city.

At its heart is the Great Lawn, a sprawling green space for gathering and relaxation. Framed by neighborhood-scale structures that honor our maritime industrial past, this mixed-use destination will showcase the best of New Orleans’ food and beverage. Whether you're here to catch a sunset, enjoy a meal, or take in the lush surroundings, The Batture awaits.

For the first time in 150 years, The Batture is opening to the public. Join us on the river, featuring local food trucks, purveyors, and the stunning riverfront as your backdrop.

Important Information About Outdoor Performances:
Crescent City Stage is a nonprofit theatre company and every ticket you buy goes directly toward paying our actors, crew, and staff fairly. Because this performance takes place outdoors, it's subject to weather and other circumstances beyond our control. If we make the difficult call to cancel for safety reasons, tickets are non-refundable. As a small organization, we're not able to absorb those costs after they've already been committed to the production. We're deeply grateful for your understanding, and for supporting live theatre in New Orleans.
