About the Event:
Pull up a chair and join us at MODA for an evening of barbecue, cold beer, and good company as we mark the official release of The American Barbecue Map by artist Joe Veazey, best known for his Atlanta Rap Map.
Two years in the making and painted entirely by hand, The American Barbecue Map is the first visual guide to America’s barbecue culture. It spotlights 184 of the country’s top restaurants—from old-school smokehouses to new masters of the craft—along with signature regional dishes, an illustrated timeline of barbecue history, portraits of 25 barbecue legends, and even the sides and desserts that complete the plate.
In researching the map, Joe visited more than 150 barbecue joints across the South, bringing a lifetime of passion for both food and design into one remarkable work of art.
On September 27, you’ll get to:
- Enjoy barbecue and a cold drink on the plaza
- Hear Joe share the story of how the map came to life
- Purchase your own copy of The American Barbecue Map
- Try your hand at a few hands-on, barbecue-inspired activities
Come hungry, stay awhile, and celebrate a piece of Southern tradition made visible through design.
