Description

This class will focus specifically on Slab Pots. Slabbing clay is a hand building pottery technique that has been around for centuries. Before potters began using pottery wheels, simple tools were used to create clay pottery. Slabbing clay is a technique the includes rolling out slabs of clay and then cutting out pieces and attaching them together to create pots, cups, and urns.

Students will learn basic clay use, understanding of clay tools, and vocabulary to aid in understanding of ceramic pottery.

Students will need to return to the studio a couple of weeks after class to pick up their finished, fired pieces. At that time, they may choose to take their bisque home as is, or they can paint their piece in the studio for the price of a studio fee.  Studio fee includes paint, glazing and final firing in the kiln.

Class limited to 16 participants

CLASS TIME: Class begins promptly at the time listed on the ticket! Please arrive a few minutes prior to start time to park, check-in, unwind, & get seated! If you are late to class, is your responsibility to get caught up. Parking may be available behind the studio in the small parking lot. You are welcome to come in our back door.
