Description
Learn basic and valuable techniques to jump-start your knitting fun. During the workshop our goal will be to learn to cast on, the knit stitch, and to bind off. Simple starting and finishing techniques will be covered. This is a beginning level knitting workshop. All supplies will be provided.
About the Instructor:
Sally Ackerman is a teaching fiber artist for Big Thought’s Thriving Minds After School, the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs, and the Creative Arts Center of Dallas.
In addition to her teaching skills, Sally is Dallas’ first and most active yarn bomber. A lifelong knitter and crocheter, Sally created a new outlet for her talents when she founded Dallas Yarn Bombers, a group that comes together to work on large yarn installations including the Nasher Sculpture Center, Winspear Opera House, Klyde Warren Park and more. Her joyful fiber art has been exhibited in numerous galleries/art shows, and she often creates colorful yarn bomb installations for festivals and events.
