Description
Beowulf is the oldest written story in the English language, yet it's never been more timely. Philip DePoy's new version combines film, puppetry, song, and stage to yield a version of this classic tale that serves as a palimpsest for our times. When a monster threatens a community, just for singing, Beowulf must save the day by fighting the monster bare handed, and then must face the evil that comes after. A World Premiere by Philiip DePoy. Directed by Rosemary Newcott. Sponsored by Inverness Productions. Beowulf is dedicated in memory of Chris Kayser, beloved alumnus of the Academy Theatre.
