Description
The Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (DCDC) will lead a workshop created especially for Omaha’s performing and visual artists and other creatives seeking opportunity to explore expressive and interpretive movement with DCDC dancers and the DCDC Artistic Director, Debbie Blunden-Diggs. This workshop will include an opportunity to engage with the two exhibitions located in KANEKO’s upstairs spaces: Charles Kay’s UNSEEN, and pieces included in the James Surls exhibition Nightshade and Red Bone. Previous movement experience is not necessary.
Dayton Contemporary Dance Company was founded in 1968 to create performance opportunities for dancers of color. Five decades later, the 10th largest modern contemporary dance company in the nation remains rooted in the African-American experience and committed to developing diverse movement artists on the global stage. Today DCDC is regarded one of the best contemporary dance companies in the US.
DCDC’s professionally trained dance artists come from all over the country. They’re renowned for their precision of dance execution, artistry, and connecting with audiences by emoting feelings that touch the soul. The dancers use their bodies as instruments to communicate and to elevate experience. One never leaves a DCDC performance unmoved.
