Description
More than detailing a voyage in a ship’s log, those called to the sea for work or for leisure have long found creative inspiration in the salty breezes, the swelling waves, and the thrill of nature’s embrace. Capturing the spirit of one’s adventures with the written word has always been, and continues to be, the perfect means for capturing a memory, chronicling a life, sharing a lesson or reliving an adventure.
“Beyond the Ship’s Log” is a chance to travel alongside local writers as they share their experiences and sea-inspired poems, blogs, and essays.
The Writer’s Showcase will feature:
- Sarah Anderson, poet and freelance writer
- Kate Garaffa, blogger and author of “Knot Working” and “The Katie Anna”
- Nick Brown, columnist
- Additional writers to be announced
There is a $10 at-the-door suggested donation. RSVP's are strongly encouraged.
Refreshments will be served. This event will take place at The Word Barn, 66 Newfields Road, Exeter, NH
Presented in partnership with The Word Barn, “Beyond the Ship’s Log—A Writer’s Showcase” is a prelude to the writing workshop “Beyond the Ship’s Log—Capturing the spirit of your adventure with the written word” being offered at The Boatshop at Strawbery Banke on October 14.
